About[]

Jack and Annie are back to their usual missions throughout their world, but this time, they will be using magic. Merlin the Magician has decided to give them four missions to see if they can use magic wisely. Morgan le Fay managed to convince Merlin to give Jack and Annie magic as he had been very cautious in giving it to mortals outside Camelot. Teddy and Kathleen has given them a book with ten rhymes that can only be used once.

Books[]

1. Carnival at Candlelight

2. Season of the Sandstorms

3. Night of the New Magicians

4. Blizzard of the Blue Moon

Rhymes[]

One line in each rhyme is in Teddy's language, and the other is in Kathleen's, the language of the Seal People. Here are all of Teddy and Kathleen's rhymes and the books they were used in.

Carnival at Candlelight[]

  • Make Metal Soft: Iron or copper, brass or steel, Bree-on-saw! Bro-on-beel! Jack and Annie use this to escape Venice's prison, the pozzi.
  • Make a Stone Come Alive: Stone so silent, cold, and hard, Cum-matta-lie, cum-matta-skaard! The kids use this rhyme to turn a winged lion to life.

Season of the Sandstorms[]

  • Make Helpers Appear out of Nowhere: From far beyond, send helpers here! Hah-ee-by, hah-ee-keer! This rhyme was used to summon people on camels. More specifically, it created a sandstorm that led some travelling merchants to Jack and Annie.
  • Mend What Cannot Be Mended: Heal what is broken beyond repair! Avi-bree-all! Fen-a-mare! Jack and Annie use this rhyme to fix a book containing Aristotle's writings when Beauty, the camel, ate them and completely destroyed it.
  • Fly Through the Air: Sail through the sky where you wish to go! Sawn-ee-fore, sawn-ee-row! This was used to have wind blow a carpet and take them back to the Magic Tree House.

Night of the New Magicians[]

  • Spin into the Air: Whirl and twirl and swirl and spin! Tee-roll-eye-bee-eye-ben! Jack and Annie use this rhyme to make a bicycle fly so they can get to the Eiffel Tower quickly.
  • Make Something Disappear: Thing before us, now we see― Thee-be-wan-new-ee-vee! The kids were going to use it to get rid of the supposed evil sorcerer, but instead use this to transport Merlin back to Camelot.

Blizzard of the Blue Moon[]

  • Find a Treasure You Must Never Lose: Treasure forever must never be lost! Um-motta cal, um-motta bost! Jack used this rhyme to find Annie after the two got separated in Central Park.
  • Pull a Cloud from the Sky: Down from high, out of the sky, Ee-no-fain-ee-ro-lie! This rhyme was used to block the vision of Balor and Grinda so the kids could escape with Dianthus.
  • Turn into Ducks: Fowl of air, appear now here! Aka-aka-aka-mere! Annie finally uses this rhyme to turn Balor and Grinda into ducks. Merlin said the rhyme would wear off.

Trivia[]

  • In Summer of the Sea Serpent, Kathleen actually said a rhyme in her language after Teddy to create a bridge with the Sword of Light. In a way, that was a preview for this arc.
    • The rhyme was O Sword of Light, now light the night! Ma-ee-bree-stro-eh-brite! The latter half of the rhyme translated into Make a bridge, strong and bright.
  • A running gag throughout this arc is Annie wanting to use the rhyme that will turn them into ducks.
  • Teddy and Kathleen helped Jack and Annie out on these missions while in disguises.
    • In Carnival at Candlelight, the two were a gondolier and their masked passenger who rowed Jack and Annie to Venice and back to the tree house. Jack accidentally revealed the glass ring Teddy wore earlier.
    • In Season of the Sandstorms, Teddy and Kathleen were servants who took them the Room of the Tree in Ancient Baghdad, knowing that Mamoon would arrive and meet them there.
    • In Night of the New Magicians, they were a gentleman and lady. They gave a bike to Jack and Annie so they could use it to get to the Eiffel Tower.
    • In Blizzard of the Blue Moon, the two were a girl on the subway and a taxi driver. They lead them to the Cloisters even though they were planning on going to the Bronx Zoo, because that was where DIanthus actually was. Balor and Grinda also resembled them which made Jack and Annie think they were them.
