Magic and Proof[]
In each book, Jack and Annie learn a kind of everyday magic. They also brought items back to Morgan as proof that they learned it. She didn't actually say they had to bring proof, but she was glad that they did.
- The first magic was the magic of theater. They became actors in William Shakespeare's play, A Midsummer Night's Dream. Will gave them the scrolls with the script they read for the play on them.
- The second was the magic of animals. Jack and Annie learned it by talking in sign languages with African mountain gorillas. One gorilla that Annie named Ho-ho gave Jack a twig for a snack.
- The third was the magic of community. While attending the first Thanksgiving, Jack and Annie united three worlds: Their own, the pilgrims', and the Wampanoag. Squanto gave them a pouch of corn seeds so they could plant them.
- The fourth and final magic they learned was the magic of friendship. While Jack had some disagreements with Kama and Boka, he learned to be friends with them. Annie kept the lei that they gave them earlier.
