In this quartet, Merlin has fallen into a very bad depression. Teddy and Kathleen have decided to send Jack and Annie throughout history to collect secrets of happiness.

Secrets[]
At the end of the quartet, Jack and Annie present Merlin with an item representing each secret they found.
- The first secret was of nature. Matsuo Bashō paid attention the small things in nature, they inspired him to write his famous haiku, The Old Pond. Annie gave Merlin a translated version of this.
- The second secret was of curiosity. Leonardo da Vinci had a great curiosity of many things, he always happy about learning something new. The kids gave Merlin a picture of an angel he drew.
- The third secret was of compassion. An ocean scientist named Henry told them happiness comes from having compassion to all living creatures, no matter how small or big. They gave Merlin a nautilus shell.
- The fourth secret of was caring. Jack gave Merlin Penny the penguin, whose parents were lost in a storm, the emperor wanted him to take care of her. While they didn't find out the secret originally because not everybody can have penguins, Morgan explained that taking care of someone can help us look into ourselves and see all the gifts the world offers.
